For once, we are presenting you today with an unconnected device. What the hell is happening to the Alexians? Why such a product? Because it is a technical product for the home from a brand we love: Xiaomi. Well, to be perfectly honest, we ordered it without looking too much at its technical data sheet given its very low price, and only discovered this fact once unpacked. Nevertheless, this pilot light with presence detector can be very interesting for many of you, especially since its design corresponds perfectly to those of the other devices in the Xiaomi Mijia or Aqara smart home ecosystem.

Mi Motion Activated Light: a successful design typical of Xiaomi

As always at Xiaomi, the packaging is clean and pleasant. The Mi Motion Activated Night Light is delivered in a small white cardboard box with a visual of the unit.

Inside, we discover a small device with an equally pleasant design, all dressed in white, and very soberly presenting the Mijia logo of Xiaomi in its center.

Underneath the device, we notice the presence of only one self-adhesive surface, the classic one at Xiaomi. This allows you to fix the unit where you want, or to attach a plastic suspension provided. Note, moreover, that Xiaomi had the excellent idea to drill it in its center by taking the shape of the Mijia logo, which allows the suspension to be perfectly adjusted. Smart!

The pilot light is powered by three AA LR6 1.5V batteries not included, which is not surprising at this price.

Xiaomi Mijia MJYD01YL: a night light coupled with a very efficient presence detector

As always at Xiaomi, we are dealing here with a very efficient device. Thanks to an infrared induction detector, the pilot light operates quickly at a distance of up to 7 metres in open fields with an angle of 120 degrees. The device is equipped with a small Fresnel lens allowing a super effective reflection on its fish scale structure. It is terribly effective.

When a person is detected, the device will then activate for 15 seconds, providing sufficient lighting to allow safe night-time travel. Two luminosity powers are available, one of 0.7 lumens and the other of 0.36 lumens, luminance which may seem low but seems quite satisfactory to us, especially since it allows an autonomy of 6 to 12 months.

In conclusion, what about this product? Well, that we would have liked to be able to integrate it into our Xiaomi ecosystems and that it would be connected of course. But, basically, would that be useful? Clearly not, PIR sensors / detectors such as the Xiaomi Mijia Mi Motion Sensor or the Aqara Human Motion Sensor already perfectly fulfill this function and can be programmed to activate the light of a Xiaomi Mijia or Aqara gateway. So for what use? We are thinking of a children's room or a corridor for example, which allows you to dedicate your sensors to other functions. Anyway, at only about 12€, this Xiaomi mi Motion Activated Night Light is a good deal and an object all the more practical because it can move easily thanks to its suspension system.
